* FULLY BOOKED * Tall Ships Races 2019: Race 2. The last leg of this year’s Tall Ships Races will take you on an exciting race from Norway to Denmark. Join the fleet in a spectacular Parade of Sail, with thousands of visitors cheering from land. Then set course for Aarhus, sailing as fast as you can towards the finish line. You will spend 8 days at sea, working in shifts with trainees and crew and bringing Atyla to port. Once in Aarhus, you can expect a great festival for the closing of the 63rd Tall Ships Races. Open for all Windseekers, minimum age 15 years.

Programme Outline

Once again in 2019 the Tall Ships from all over the world will come together to compete in the 63rd annual Tall Ships Races. Race 2 will bring you across the North Sea, from Norway to Denmark. Prepare to leave the city of Bergen in a spectacular Parade of Sail, before embarking on an exciting race. After a few days on the open sea you will reach Aarhus where you will join your fellow trainees from other Ships in Crew Parade, Crew Party, friendly competitions and visiting other vessels.

As a Windseeker you will be a trainee on board of your vessel. Under the watchful eye of professional crew members you will be responsible for sailing the Ship from setting and trimming the sails, through looking out for other vessels, to navigating and steering. You will have day and night watches, and also some time to relax and enjoy the journey!

Ports

Bergen is the gateway to the Fjords of Norway and a well-established cruise port. It’s an international city packed with history and tradition, a big city with small-town charm and atmosphere. Stroll around old streets and alleyways, and mingle with the crowds at the Fish Market. Saunter along the listed wooden buildings at Bryggen to the old fortress at Bergenhus, or call in at one of Bergen’s museums and galleries. The panoramic views of the city, the fjord and the ocean are breathtaking.

Aarhus is a port city on the northeast coast of Jutland, Denmark. One of its highlights is Den Gamle By, an open-air museum featuring historic buildings from across the country. The impressive 13th-century cathedral is another must-see. With its laid-back atmosphere and plenty to explore, Aarhus is a favourite among tall ship crews who return again and again. Just west of the city, lakes and forests offer great hiking opportunities for those looking to enjoy the outdoors.
