Attempting St. Kilda. The plan for this journey will ideally center around sailing to the remote island of St. Kilda, but you’ll be very much dependent on the weather here. Once home to about 80 settlers, living from sheep and Puffin eggs, the island was finally abandoned in the 1930s, letting the nature take over once again. These days you can only reach St. Kilda by boat. If the winds are not favorable – don’t worry! There are a number of beautiful Scottish islands which you can explore instead. Open to all ages, minimum age 15 years.

Ports

Ullapool, despite its small size is the largest settlement for many miles around and a major tourist destination of Scotland. The village was founded in 1788 as a herring port by the British Fisheries Society. A few Cordyline australis or New Zealand cabbage trees are grown in the town and are often mistaken for palms. The harbour is still the edge of the village, used as a fishing port, yachting haven, and ferry port. Enjoy the beautiful surroundings here.
