Twister:
Falmouth (GB) - Cascais (PT)

25 October - 01 November 2019

*Trainee placement: only 2 places available* Sailing south, across the Bay of Biscay. Step on board in the small maritime town of Falmouth in Cornwall before navigating your way down the west coast of Europe. This is a delivery journey and a great opportunity for those that want more time at sea, to improve their sailing skills on a classic ship and be part of a knowledgeable crew who love to share their wisdom and tales. There will be very few if any stopping points on the duration of this trip, as the main focus is to bring the ship to Cascais, outside of Lisbon. Open to Windseekers aged 17-30 (other ages at request).

Ports

Falmouth lies near the southwestern tip of the United Kingdom. It’s a quaint port town, surrounded by grassy hills and forests, and famous for its harbor. Going on a hike here is very rewarding! Sailing is a popular pastime in Falmouth, so don’t be surprised if you’re engaged in a lively discussion on the finer points of navigation over a beer in one of the local pubs. Falmouth has been a kind port to Tall Ships, hosting the Tall Ships Races in 1966, 1982, and 1998.

Cascais is a popular port town in Portugal with a large yacht harbor and several sandy beaches in and around town. Surfing, windsurfing, sailing and kitesurfing are popular in the region, and nearby cliffs are a great destination for a hike. The town proper offers everything you need to recuperate from your exertions: restaurants, taverns and all the urban sophistication you might miss when at sea. You can visit Lisbon from here for a day trip, but Cascais itself is also well worth a visit.
