Sail from Sail Bremerhaven to IJmuiden where all Tall Ships will come together to go to Sail Amsterdam. Join the Santa Maria Manuela for this Journey along the Dutch and German coasts and learn more about life on deck, under the guidance of the experienced crew. Along the way you’ll sail past the Dutch Wadden Islands, a famous Nature Reserve. While on watch your team will be responsible for all aspects of sailing the Santa Maria Manuela – setting the sails, navigation, chores on deck and below, and lookout. You’ll be rewarded with the cameraderie of your Fellow Windseekers and the feeling of freedom that comes with ocean sailing. When you arrive in IJmuiden at the 18th in the afternoon, you will be met by the entire Tall Ship fleet in their preparation for Sail Amsterdam 2015. Open to all ages, minimum age 14 years.

Ports

Bremerhaven is one of the most important German ports, playing a crucial role in Germany’s trade. The town was founded in 1827, but settlements in the vicinity were settled as early as the 12th century. The main attractions for tourists are found at the Havenwelten and include the German Emigration Center and the German Maritime Museum, featuring the Hansekogge, a vintage cog dating from 1380, excavated in Bremen in 1962, and the historical harbour with a number of museum ships.

IJmuiden, on the west coast of the Netherlands, is the water gateway to Amsterdam. Cruise ships, cargo vessels and pleasure yachts pass through its busy locks every day, while the IJmuiden marina is an excellent spot to shelter for the North Sea storms. IJmuiden offers a wide, sandy beach that is popular with windsurfers and kitesurfers. Behind the dunes you’ll find a small nature reserve, perfect for a hike or a run. IJmuiden’s restaurants serve fresh fish, straight from the local market.
