Atyla:
Bilbao (ES) - Brest (FR)

28 April - 05 May 2018

* New Prices * Season Start. You can join the Atyla for her first international voyage in 2018. Board the Ship in her homeport in Bilbao and spend a day exploring before departing for a week-long trip to Brest in the French province of Brittany. In this trip you will cross the Bay of Biscay, which can be quite unpredictable – weather wise. The area is also full of marine wildlife and Atyla’s coaching sessions about environment will help you get to know the local fauna better. Time permitting, you might also anchor at one of the French islands before arriving in port. Open for all Windseekers, minimum age 15 years.

Ports

Bilbao is a port in the northern tip of the Iberian peninsula, founded in the 14th century. Later on it became an important commercial hub for the Basque region. Today, Bilbao is a vigorous service city. The iconic Bilbao Guggenheim museum is a must-see. Also take some time to walk around the city centre and visit the Exteberria Park. Around the city you can do many outdoor activities such as rock climbing, hiking and surfing.

Brest is a major French port on the Atlantic coast, historically of strategic importance. Much of the town was destroyed during World War II, but some historic landmarks remain. Today Brest is an important navy port, so expect to see war ships berthed in the harbor. Every four years, Brest hosts the international festival of the sea, boats and sailors, with many Tall Ships attending. South of Brest you will find national park d’Armorique, a tranquil reserve where you can escape from the city.
