Atyla:
Ponta Delgada, Azores (PT) - Bilbao (ES)

07 October - 21 October 2021

The biggest mile-maker of the season! Sail from the beautiful Azores back to Atyla’s homeport on an astonishing trip of over 1100 nautical miles, with a mix of ocean-sailing and coasts full of nature. Step on board the Atyla on the island Sao Miguel in the Azores. Get to know the crew and your fellow shipmates and spend some time enjoying the city and the astonishing nature in the island. The next day you will set sail towards mainland Europe. Learn to sail a Tall Ship and enjoy the unique feeling of being out on the ocean for days at a time. Reach Spain and, weather permitting, explore the Cantabric coast, before making your way to Bilbao. Flexible disembarkation date means that you can leave the Ship on the 20th or 21st of October. Open for all Windseekers, minimum age 15 years. Covid-related conditions: most likely everyone will be asked to take an antigen test before boarding the Ship. You will receive the details shortly before your trip starts in order to ensure we are complying with the latest official guidelines. Sail as a trainee for a full Tall Ship experience and participate in all activities on board as part of the (trainee) crew. Or join as a guest and choose which activities you want to take part in.

Ports

Ponta Delgada is the capital of the Azores - a Portuguese archipelago in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. It's located on the São Miguel Island. The city dates back to the 15th century, when a fishing village was first established in the area. The beautiful architecture makes Ponta Delgada a charming place to walk through. Spend some time discovering the City Gates and the City Hall, before relaxing in the Campo de São Francisco square. Don't miss the magnificent botanical garden!

Bilbao is a port in the northern tip of the Iberian peninsula, founded in the 14th century. Later on it became an important commercial hub for the Basque region. Today, Bilbao is a vigorous service city. The iconic Bilbao Guggenheim museum is a must-see. Also take some time to walk around the city centre and visit the Exteberria Park. Around the city you can do many outdoor activities such as rock climbing, hiking and surfing.

STO Garant

This Journey is covered by the STO Garant guarantee. You can find the conditions for this guarantee scheme on STO Garant’s website (www.sto-garant.nl/en/downloads).

This process is automatic and you do not need to do anything else. After receiving your booking, Windseeker will send you detailed information on how and when to pay for your journey – together with all the other important details.

What does it mean?

In short: you do not pay the booking amount to Windseeker but instead into an escrow account. This trust account holds your payment in reserve until your journey’s end. The booking amount is then released to Windseeker on the day after your trip ends. If Windseeker or the Ship should become financially insolvent before the end of your trip, STO Garant will implement the guarantee. The Guarantee Scheme details how you can make a claim under the guarantee in such cases. You can read more about this here.
