Bark Europa:
Cape Town (ZA) - Ascension Island (GB)

13 April - 06 May 2017

Escape to the ocean! During this voyage you will sail from South Africa to the Ascension Island and have plenty of opportunities to learn all about sailing, maintenance of a ship, and also get some knowledge about scientific research on the oceans. Still, expect enough free time to get to know your crew and other trainees better and have lots of fun together. Open for all Windseekers, minimum age 15 years.

Ports

Cape Town, close to Cape of Good Hope, is a wonderful place where African and European cultures mix and match in interesting ways. The city offers lots of entertainment and fine cuisine, and there is much to see! Visit the Table Mountain, saunter along the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, check out Robben Island where Nelson Mandela used to be imprisoned, and of course no Windseeker's visit is complete without a trip to Cape Point. If you have time, a drive along the coast is highly recommended!

Ascension Island is an isolated volcanic island in the equatorial waters of the South Atlantic Ocean, roughly midway between the horn of South America and Africa. The sparsely inhabited island is one of the most remote places in the world. Discover the unique wildlife, including seabirds and marine turtles, go snorkelling in the beautiful ocean or take a hike around the island. Because of its geographical isolation you will be one of very few tourists to ever visit the island.
