Blue Clipper:
Ålesund (NO) - Weymouth (GB) - A Coruña (ES)

10 September - 29 September 2018

Southward bound! This combined delivery trip will bring you from Alesund in Norway to A Coruna in Spain, with a stop in Weymouth. Board the Blue Clipper for an exciting mile-building voyage: this is the trip for people who want to sail a lot. You will cross the North Sea, explore the English Channel, and then take on the Bay of Biscay. As part of the watch system you will participate in trimming the sails, steering and standing on lookout. You will log in about 1,500 nautical miles. Open to Windseekers of all ages, minimum age 15 years.

Ports

Ålesund is an intimate harbor amongst beautiful fjords, mountains and islands. Consisting out of seven islands, Ålesund is a modern city. In 1904 the city, once built largely of wood, was completely burned down by a sea of flames. After a period of planning, the town was rebuilt in stone, brick, and mortar in Jugendstil. Visit the Atlantic Sea Park on a rainy day or, if the weather is nice, go to the Sunnmoere Museum to see historic Norwegian houses and Viking relics.

A Coruña is a port town in the north west of Spain. Here you will find the Tower of Hercules, a lighthouse that has been in operation for 1.800 years! The town itself is an affluent commercial and tourism hub, with plenty of things to see and do. Visit the popular beaches, explore the city centre, or sample some of the many cultural activities. The Aquarium Finisterrae lets you explore the marine life of the region. But if you prefer your fish on a plate, A Coruña’s restaurants can help you out.
