Blue Clipper:
Horta (PT) - Portimao (PT)

07 May - 18 May 2020

Back to Europe. The second part of the Atlantic crossing on the Blue Clipper will start in the Azores. There you will embark on a journey east, towards Portugal. Over 11 days on board you will sail 900 miles together with the experienced crew. In the middle of the ocean it will be just you, and the nature. Working in watches, day and night, you will soon learn how to stear the ship, trim the sails, navigate and more. There will also be enough time to stare at the faraway horizon, search the waves for dolphins, make new friends and enjoy the life without internet. And while we can’t give any guarantees, this is also the best time to see whales in the Azores! Open to Windseekers of all ages, minimum age 18 years.

Ports

Horta is situated in the western part of the Archipelago of the Azores on the island of Faial. The marina is a primary stop for yachts crossing the Atlantic. Its walls and walkways are covered in paintings created by the crews of visiting ships. Peter's Cafe Sport, located across from the marina, houses the island's scrimshaw museum. A collection of artefacts carved from whale tooth and jawbone. This café is a point of reference for trans-Atlantic yachtsmen and sailors.

Portimão is a Portugese city in the southern region of Algarve. Take a stroll along the Alvor Boardwalk, relax on the white sands of the Praia Da Rocha beach and visit the Museu de Portimao for a little history lesson. You can also take a dolphin watching tour or do one of the multiple offered water sports.
