Harlingen (NL) - Gosport (GB)

05 August - 11 August 2018

Homeward Bound. Join Challenge Wales in Harlingen, where dozens of Tall Ships and smaller vessels will be gathered for the Tall Ships Races final celebrations. Enjoy the atmosphere of a huge sailing festival before leaving harbour in a spectacular Parade of Sail. Then set course for Great Britain, sailing on the North Sea and in the English Channel. Enjoy the time spent on board, setting and trimming the sails, steering and looking out for other vessels. And, most importantly, have fun! Open for Windseekers aged 16-25.

Ports

Harlingen is a historic trade and fishing port in Friesland, the Netherlands, with roots going back over a thousand years. Its charming old town features well-preserved streets and buildings, perfect for exploring on foot. Despite its small size, Harlingen has a lively atmosphere and was a proud port of call for the Tall Ships Races in 2022. With its gezellig pubs and welcoming vibe, Harlingen is an ideal stopover for any traveler.

The Gosport peninsula has 17 miles (27 km) of waterfront on Portsmouth Harbour and The Solent and is a maritime playground for all. Until the last quarter of the 20th century, Gosport was a major naval town. The pebble beach at Stokes Bay slopes steeply into the sea which is great to see. It offers fine views of the shipping going in and out of Portsmouth and Southampton and the many pleasure craft from the many marinas along The Solent and the Isle of Wight.
