Aalborg (DK) - Bergen (NO) - Harlingen (NL)

05 July - 09 August 2019

The Full Tall Ships Races 2019 Experience. Join the Eendracht for a month of sailing, racing and events! During your time on board you will compete in two races and enjoy a Cruise in Company leg. Afterwords you will sail the Eendracht on to Harlingen in the north of Netherlands. This is certainly enough time for you to get your sea legs! Participate in harbour events in Fredrikstad, Bergen and Aarhus, meet many people of different nationalities and enjoy the Sail Training activities. Stand behind the steering wheel of the Eendracht, trim the sails so you can go as fast as possible, stand on lookout for other vessels and learn to navigate the sea charts. This special combination journey is available only for Windseekers aged 15-25.

Programme Outline

Once again in 2019 the Tall Ships from all over the world will come together to compete in the 63rd annual Tall Ships Races. Join Race 1 from Aalborg to Fredrikstad. After spending a few days in port, enjoying the unique atmosphere of a maritime festival, you will embark on a Cruise in Company to Bergen - a more relaxed leg, during which you will be able to admire the famous Norwegian coastline. From Bergen you will once again race the other Tall Ships, this time to Aarhus.

In different ports you will be able to enjoy the Crew Parades, exclusive Crew Parties, award ceremonies, games, competitions, concerts and the Parades of Sail. And in between the ports it's all about sailing: either reaching the finish line first during races, or discovering new places during Cruise in Company. Under the watchful eye of professional crew members you will be responsible for sailing the Ship - but no worries, there will be plenty of time to relax and enjoy the journey as well!

Ports

The Tall Ships Races 2019 will be visiting the grand port of Aalborg. Aalborg has had a love affair with The Tall Ships Races since 1999, when the city hosted the event for the first time. Aalborg is situated at the Liim Fiord where it was founded by Vikings over 1000 years ago. Today Aalborg is a modern city with visible historic roots. Its theatres, symphony orchestra, performance venues, and museums, make Aalborg a great place to wind down after an exhilarating Sail adventure.

Harlingen is a trade and fishing port in Friesland, the Netherlands. The town itself is over a thousand years old, and you’ll find several historic streets in the old city centre. Its small size makes it easy to explore the town on foot. In 2014 Harlingen was a port of call for the Tall Ships Races. The town operates ferry lines to the Frisian Islands, a unique nature reserve with populations of seals, birds, and other wildlife. With its ‘gezellige’ pubs the town is a great place for a stopover.
