Excelsior:
Turku (FI) - Mariehamn (AX)

20 July - 26 July 2024

The Tall Ships Races 2024: Cruise in Company 2. Step on board the Excelsior in Turku, Finland, and set course for a voyage of discovery and adventure. Leave the harbour in a Parade of Sail, waved goodbye by thousands of spectators on land. Raise the sails, take the helm, navigate the sea charts, to bring the Excelsior to your next destination. Learn to sail from the experienced crew, and make new friends among the trainees, while enjoying the life at sea, away from distractions, and close to nature. Visit small ports or remote islands, jump into the sea straight from the ship and spend the night watch looking at the stars without the light pollution. Reach Mariehamn and spend the last two days in the port, participating in the maritime festival.
Open to young Windseekers aged 15-25.

Ports

Turku is a Finnish city dating back to the XIII century. Join in the ships' spectacular route through the Turku Archipelago before being brought right into the middle of the city on the banks of the Aura River. Walk the cobblestone streets, visit the medieval castle, Forum Marinum maritime centre, or one of many art museums. Take a stroll down the river bank to find your favourite little restaurant or cafe.

Mariehamn is the capital of Aland Islands, an autonomous archipelago off the coast of Finland. The town has maritime ties, seen when visiting the Aaland Maritime Museum and the impressive Pommern museumship. Don't miss the old Maritime Quarter with its old fishermen houses and boats. With less than 12,000 inhabitants Mariehamn has a cozy and friendly atmosphere.

STO Garant

This Journey is covered by the STO Garant guarantee. You can find the conditions for this guarantee scheme on STO Garant’s website (www.sto-garant.nl/en/downloads).

This process is automatic and you do not need to do anything else. After receiving your booking, Windseeker will send you detailed information on how and when to pay for your journey – together with all the other important details.

What does it mean?

In short: you do not pay the booking amount to Windseeker but instead into an escrow account. This trust account holds your payment in reserve until your journey’s end. The booking amount is then released to Windseeker on the day after your trip ends. If Windseeker or the Ship should become financially insolvent before the end of your trip, STO Garant will implement the guarantee. The Guarantee Scheme details how you can make a claim under the guarantee in such cases. You can read more about this here.
