Gallant:
Oostende (BE) - Amsterdam (NL)

31 May - 03 June 2015

Quick! Get a few days of North Sea Sailing in, with the Gallant from Oostende to Amsterdam. You’ll board the Gallant in the early morning and set sail for Amsterdam the same day. With port to port deliveries such as these, the ship’s engine is on standby in case the winds are unfavorable. However, with the prevailing southwesterly winds in the area there’s a big chance you’ll spend most of the time sailing. Help out the crew setting and trimming the sails, and keep the Gallant on course. Oostende is not far from Amsterdam, so perhaps there will be an opportunity for a quick stop along the way. Step on board and discover what it’s like to be part of an actual working ship’s crew! Open for all ages, minimum age 15 years (from age 12 years at request)

Ports

Oostende is a seaport and tourism destination on the Belgian coast. The original belle époque architecture was largely destroyed by two world wars (and the advent of mass tourism), but the city still has plenty of worthwhile sights to see, such as the Mu.ZEE, the Petrus and Paulus church, and the fort Napolean. Visit one of the museums, check out the lively cultural agenda, and check out a Belgian tavern for a ‘pinteke’. And don’t forget the beach, which can be crowded in the summer!

With more bicycles than people, cycling is an integral part of Amsterdam's DNA. Hop on and see the city like the locals do! Winding waterways, idyllic bridges and historic buildings - one of the most memorable ways to truly see Amsterdam is from the canals. Amsterdam has a full cultural agenda showcasing the very best festivals, nightlife, exhibitions & events, plus there is enough practical tourist info, hotel, museum, excursion & attraction listings, you won't miss a thing!
