Oosterschelde:
Aberdeen (GB) - Kiel (DE)

15 June - 21 June 2015

Cast off in Aberdeen and help Oosterschelde to be on time for the Kieler Woche in Germany. You will have six days to cross the North Sea, which should be plenty under normal circumstances. But be prepared for anything, as the weather on the North Sea can change on a dime! Together with the crew you’ll run the ship, keeping her on course and making sure she makes good time. During the watches you’ll be an integral part of the crew, so get ready to do whatever needs doing! It’s the perfect challenge for any Windseeker, especially if you’ve always wondered what it’s like to be on the working side of a Tall Ship. Oh, and you’ll sail along the magnificent Scottish coast. So there’s that… Open to Windseekers of all ages, minimum age 15 years.

Ports

Aberdeen, the silver city with the golden sands, lies on the Scottish east coast. The city has been settled for over 8000 years, so you’ll find plenty of historic landmarks as you amble across town. Aberdeen is also famous for its many parks and gardens. The city hosts several festivals year round, so check out the cultural agenda while you’re there. And take some time to spend in one of the many wonderful pubs, where you can strike up a conversation with the locals. But don’t peek under kilts!

Kiel is a German port town on the Baltic coast, widely known for its yearly ‘Kiel week’ – the biggest yearly regatta in the world! Many thousands of boats and ships of all kinds and eras take part in the parade. Kiel Week is also a festival, Volksfest and fair as well as a maritime event. But Kiel offers more: a slew of museums (zoological, geological, historical, fine art, industrial, and military museums), a city centre with relaxed atmosphere, and the water and shores of the Kieler Fjord.
