Bermuda is a group of low-forming volcanoes in the North Atlantic Ocean, consisting of 181 islands. The first known European explorer to reach Bermuda was Spanish sea captain Juan de Bermúdez in 1503, after whom the islands are named. Bermuda’s culture is a mix of Native American, Spanish-Caribbean, English, Irish, and Scots. It is a British Overseas Territory. Rotterdam is the largest port of Europe, and a modern, bustling town. Much of the historic city centre was destroyed during World War II, but extensive rebuilding resulted in a modern, multicultural city with many architectural highlights.
