Oosterschelde:
Saint Helena (SH) - Ascension Island (SH)

18 May - 25 May 2025

DARWIN200 Global Voyage: Leg 30. From Saint Helena sail to Ascension Island, considered one of the most interesting volcanic islands in the world. It is home to vast nesting turtle populations, migrating land crabs, large seabird colonies, colonial forts and an artificial rainforest instigated by Darwin. Consider staying on Ascension Island after disembarkation and joining a guided tour to explore the wildlife and history of the island (tour planned for 25-30.05.2025).
There is no more Covid-19 protocol on board, but the participants must make sure that they comply with the rules of the countries visited during the Journeys.

Ports

Saint Helena is a charming and very remote island, almost 2,000 km west of Africa and 4,000 km east of South America. Due to its isolation it is famously a place where Napoleon Bonaparte was sent to exile. Nowadays it has a population of approx. 4,500 people and is a perfect spot for nature lovers. You can go on hiking trips of varied difficulty, take a dolphin-watching trip, try local food and experience a slower kind of life, with sparse internet coverage.
