Stad Amsterdam:
Horta (PT) - Monaco (MC)

06 May - 20 May 2015

Join the Stad Amsterdam for a journey from Horta to Monaco and experience the adventure of ocean sailing! Become a member of one of the watches to fully experience life on board. Help set the sails, keep a lookout, and learn more about navigation. Share meals with the crew in the long room and relax on deck with a good book. Make new international friends amongst your fellow shipmates and work together to execute the ship’s manoeuvres. This journey takes you over the Atlantic to the Mediterranean sea, a real treat for every Windseeker! Expect to see dolphins playing across the bow, and maybe you can even climb the rigging to watch the horizon for miles and miles. Open to all ages, minimum age 15 years.

Ports

Horta is situated in the western part of the Archipelago of the Azores on the island of Faial. The marina is a primary stop for yachts crossing the Atlantic. Its walls and walkways are covered in paintings created by the crews of visiting ships. Peter's Cafe Sport, located across from the marina, houses the island's scrimshaw museum. A collection of artefacts carved from whale tooth and jawbone. This café is a point of reference for trans-Atlantic yachtsmen and sailors.

Monaco and its surroundings offer marvellous landscapes and sea views unique to the South of France. This is where the rich and famous come to live the good life! Rent a car if you have the time, and visit the old village of Eze, and La Turbie where you can see the ‘Trophy of Augustus’. The nearby town of Roquebrune-Cap-Martin is largely built onto a mountain wall and can only be explored on foot. Of course, you can also saunter through Monaco proper and perhaps make a wager in its casinos.
