Discovering East Asia. The sailing route follows the south coast of Japan, where a very strong current flows northeast along the coast. The journey will take you through Osaka Bay and Wakayama Bay into the East China Sea. From there, you will navigate the Huangpu River, which flows through the city center of Shanghai, dividing the city into two parts: Puxi in the west and Pudong in the east. Puxi represents the older part of the city, while Pudong is the more modern business district. About a week of sailing will be required to arrive in the metropolis of Shanghai. Here, this unique sailing adventure concludes, and you can go explore this dynamic Chinese city (we recommend booking a couple of nights in a hotel after your journey to make the most of your stay.
Open for all ages, minimum age 15 years.
Make sure to check entry requirements (visas, vaccinations) for each visited country for your nationality.

Ports

Kobe is one of the largest cities and ports in Japan, located on the main island of Honshu. Its beautiful waterfront is a great place to take a walk and start exploring the city. Nature enthusiasts should visit the Oji Zoo and Nunobiki Herb Gardens. For great views, take cable car up to Mt. Maya, then finish up the day with a meal from a world-famous Kobe beef.

Shanghai is a Chinese city located on the Yangtze River estuary. With almost 25 million people, it is one of the largest cities in the world, with an important, and very busy, sea port. Visiting the Bund with its neoclassical buildings and stunning waterfront is a must for every visitor. The Yu Garden is beautiful day and night, and Shanghai Museum will let you discover the history of the area. For beautiful views, go up to the iconic Oriental Pearl Tower.

STO Garant

This Journey is covered by the STO Garant guarantee. You can find the conditions for this guarantee scheme on STO Garant’s website (www.sto-garant.nl/en/downloads).

This process is automatic and you do not need to do anything else. After receiving your booking, Windseeker will send you detailed information on how and when to pay for your journey – together with all the other important details.

What does it mean?

In short: you do not pay the booking amount to Windseeker but instead into an escrow account. This trust account holds your payment in reserve until your journey’s end. The booking amount is then released to Windseeker on the day after your trip ends. If Windseeker or the Ship should become financially insolvent before the end of your trip, STO Garant will implement the guarantee. The Guarantee Scheme details how you can make a claim under the guarantee in such cases. You can read more about this here.
