Reykjavik – Isafjordur – Wild Wild West. You will leave Reykjavik and set sail for arguably Iceland’s prettiest town, Stykkisholmur in the West Fjords. You will navigate your way between the tiny islands, visiting where time and conditions allow. Finally you will sail to the Hornstrandir Nature Reserve, where you will spend 2-3 days. This voyage around the west coast of Iceland provides breathtaking sights under the midnight sun.Open for all Windseekers, minimum age 15 years.
Reykjavík is the capital of Iceland. As you approach from the sea, you’ll sea a modern city skyline with snowy volcanic mountains in the background. Reykjavík is quite cosmopolitan, with plenty of culture and entertainment. Go for a night on the town, or find a tour that takes you to see the glaciers, geysers, and volcanoes for which Iceland is famous. Reykjavík’s climate is less cold than you’d expect. At Nauthólsvík you’ll even find a geothermically heated beach!
Isafjordur (meaning ‘fjord of ice’) is a small port town in the northwest of Iceland. It is a major access point to the nature reserve on the Hornstrandir Peninsula, an uninhabited wilderness area to which ferries run weekly during summer. Despite its small population of 2600 people, the town has a relatively urban feel. It is considered a centre for alternative music and there’s even a hospital. Have a look around in the Maritime museum or go for a tour of the waterfalls and the nearby fjords.
