Tecla:
Vannes (FR) - Falmouth (GB)

18 May - 25 May 2015

Join the Tecla for the festival La Semain du Golf in Vannes, and sail with her to Falmouth on the British south coast. Together with your fellow Windseekers you’ll set sail across the English Channel. Possible stopovers are some beautiful anchorages on the French coast and the Channel Islands. Closer to Falmouth we can visit Helfort River or anchor at Saint Mawes. Learn all about life on deck under the guidance of the crew. Help with navigation, setting and trimming the sails, ship upkeep and in the galley. Meet new international friends and enjoy the open horizons as you make your way across the English Channel and along the British coast. Gaze up at the stars on your night watch, and find a spot on deck with your favorite book. Open to all ages, minimum age 15 years.

Ports

Vannes is a medieval French town with a distinctly Breton character. The well-preserved old city centre boasts many small pedestrian streets and colorful buildings, so go ahead and explore! Its sheltered location in the Golfe du Morbihan makes Vannes a populair sailing destination, and the surrounding countryside offers beautiful scenery – a perfect setting for a hike! In the summer Vannes organizes a Jazz festival and a historic festival, so you might be in luck when you arrive…

Falmouth lies near the southwestern tip of the United Kingdom. It’s a quaint port town, surrounded by grassy hills and forests, and famous for its harbor. Going on a hike here is very rewarding! Sailing is a popular pastime in Falmouth, so don’t be surprised if you’re engaged in a lively discussion on the finer points of navigation over a beer in one of the local pubs. Falmouth has been a kind port to Tall Ships, hosting the Tall Ships Races in 1966, 1982, and 1998.
