Twister:
Amsterdam (NL) - Cherbourg (FR) - Porto (PT)

07 November - 19 November 2018

Trade under sails. In this autumn voyage you will collect flower bulbs from the Netherlands to bring them south. You will sail along the Belgian and French coast, in the English Channel, visiting Cherbourg and stopping in the Channel Islands. Finally, after crossing the Bay of Biscay, you will reach the Spanish coastline and follow it to Portugal. After days at sea and about 1000 nautical miles sailed, you can expect a very warm welcome in the picturesque city of Porto. Open to Windseekers aged 15 and more, younger than 15 only accompanied by a parent/guardian. 25% discount for trainees younger than 14 if sharing the cabin with a guardian.

Ports

With more bicycles than people, cycling is an integral part of Amsterdam’s DNA. Hop on and see the city like the locals do! Winding waterways, idyllic bridges and historic buildings – one of the most memorable ways to truly see Amsterdam is from the canals. Amsterdam has a full cultural agenda showcasing the very best festivals, nightlife, exhibitions & events, plus there is enough practical tourist info, hotel, museum, excursion & attraction listings, you won’t miss a thing!

Situated on the Normandy coast, Cherbourg is located close to the Channel Islands of Jersey and Guernsey, and to a large nature park in the southeast. This makes Cherbourg perfect as a base for day trips. But the town itself also has plenty to offer! Visit the Cité de la Mer, a large museum devoted to scientific and historical aspects of maritime subjects, the Botanical Gardens, or the racetrack at La Glacerie. Or discover this typically French town on foot.

Porto, located on the Costa Verde, is Portugal’s second-largest city and a busy port town. Porto’s long and varied history has left many beautiful old buildings that you can discover by walking around the ‘Ribeira’ – the old city centre that is a World Heritage site. City walks can be demanding as Porto is built in the coastal hills, but that also means that each corner offers a new, exciting vista! And you can always cool your heels on Porto’s rustic terraces and vibrant street side cafés.
