Twister:
Lisbon (PT) - Paramaribo (SR)

21 January - 24 February 2025

Board Twister in Lisbon and head towards the Canary Islands, sailing over the long, rolling waves of the Atlantic Ocean. Reach Tenerife and go ashore to explore the volcanic island before your next crossing. Set course for Cape Verde and let the trade winds push you towards the Island of Sao Vicente. Stretch out your sea legs and afterwards embark on a spectacular journey to South America. Enjoy the life at sea, set to the rhythm of sailing watches, while having a bucket-list experience of crossing the ocean. Expect pleasant temperatures and fair winds, providing opportunities to relax, make friends, and swim in the ocean. Reach South America and anchor at the Devil’s Islands off the coast of French Guiana before embarking on the last leg of the voyage to Suriname’s capital Paramaribo.
Open to all Windseekers, trainees younger than 18 must be accompanied by an adult (please note that this is not a youth voyage and we expect a big variety of ages on board). Meals on board are vegetarian, but you can indicate if you would like to have the occasional fish or meat dish on the menu.

Ports

Lisbon has a long and varied history as a major trading hub, much of which is still visible in the old city centre. Discover Alfama, the old quarters with its many old alleys, steps and the Lisbon Cathedral. The famous tram line 28 will get you there – an experience in and of itself. And be sure to check out a fado concert if you want to learn about saudade – loss, yearning and comfort, all rolled into one. Emotions that all seafarers will get to know one way or the other…

Paramaribo is the capital city of Suriname, at the northern coast of South America. Visit the busy Central Market for a local atmosphere and Saint Peter & Paul Cathedral-Basilica, Neveh Shalom Synagogue or the Suriname Mosque for must-see architectural attractions. Then stroll down the Blaugrond street and grab some delicious food in one of the many lively restaurants.
