Puerto Williams (CL) - Antarctica (AQ) - Puerto Williams (CL)

22 February - 19 March 2026

South of the Arctic Circle: Beyond the Known. Sail Tecla from Puerto Williams, across the Drake Passage, towards the Gerlache Strait, where icebergs tower and mountains plunge into the sea. Then go even further south, past the Antarctic Circle into wild and rarely visited waters to discover an untouched world of surreal silence and sparkling wonder. Make a landing at Port Lockroy — Antarctica’s southernmost post office — where you can send a postcard from the edge of the world, before sailing back towards Chile. Exploring past the Antarctic Circle, this is an Antarctica journey like no other, filled with untouched landscapes and amazing wilderness.
Open for all Windseekers, minimum age 15 years.

Itinerary

Please note that this is a possible itinerary and serves as a general outline for the voyage. All plans are highly dependent on wind and weather conditions, which may require adjustments to the schedule and destinations to ensure safety and the best possible experience for all onboard. Flexibility is key when sailing in these remote and unpredictable regions.

Day 1 – Puerto Williams. Arrival and preparations. In the afternoon we set sail through the Beagle Channel — a dramatic fjord named after Darwin’s ship.
Days 2–8 – Crossing the Drake Passage. We begin our journey south through one of the most legendary stretches of ocean. Expect soaring albatrosses, rolling swells, and the rhythm of life at sea. Our crew quickly bonds as we fall into the watch system.

Days 9–13 – First Landfalls on the Antarctic Peninsula. We enter the Gerlache Strait, with potential stops at Murray Harbor, Charlotte Bay, and the historic whaling wreck at Enterprise Island.
Days 14–18 – Crossing the Antarctic Circle & Exploring the Far South. We venture below 66°33’S — the Antarctic Circle — navigating into more remote and ice-heavy waters. Depending on sea ice, we aim for Stonington Island or Detaille Island, sailing through Crystal Sound and Marguerite Bay.

Days 19–20 – Northern Return through the Peninsula. Retracing our route through the peninsula, we revisit key anchorages or explore new ones we missed on the way down.
Day 21–25 – Crossing the Drake Passage (Northbound). The return voyage gives time to reflect, share stories, and soak in the last sunrises over the Southern Ocean.
Day 26 – Arrival in Puerto Williams. Landfall in Chile’s southernmost port town. Disembarkation and a heartfelt goodbye after a truly extraordinary adventure.

Ports

Puerto Williams is a city in southern Chile, located on the Beagle Channel. The location makes it a perfect starting point for visits to Antarctica and Cape Horn. If you’re ready for more adventures after your journey, you can go on a hike in the nearby mountains. For a more relaxed time, visit Martin Gusinde Anthropological Museum, known as the southernmost museum in the world! There you can learn about local history (dating back 10,000 years!) as well as the natural environment.

Antarctica is a bucketlist destination for many world travellers – the seventh and most remote continent, a vast block of ice and rock beyond human civilisation. No-where else will you find the scale of the Antarctic peninsula – Sail past icebergs, mountains and scientific research stations. Unlike the larger cruise ships, sailing vessels offer a more intimate interaction with the continent – experience the emptiness as the whalers and explorers of history have.
