Oosterschelde:
Bordeaux (FR) - Brest (FR)

14 September - 23 September 2026

A French coastal journey under sail. Sail down the River Gironde to reach open sea, where you will hoist the first sails and set course northward. On board the Oosterschelde, you will take part in the watch system, learning to navigate and steer. You’ll hoist, trim, and take down the sails – there is always plenty to do on deck! With ample time for the journey to Brest, you will make a stop in one of the lovely coastal towns along the way (winds permitting!) Finally, you will sail into the harbour of Brest. After a final evening on board, you will say farewell to the ship and crew after breakfast the next morning.
Open to all Windseekers aged 18+. Younger trainees, accompanied by an adult, at request.

Ports

Bordeaux is famous for its wine, but the city itself also has a lot to offer. The cathedral, the Place des Quinconces and the Port de La Lune will have you gazing in amazement. The city also has a diverse cultural agenda and a bustling nightlife. To the south of the city you’ll find sandy beaches with enormous dunes that offer great surfing conditions on the waves of the Atlantic ocean. Every two years Bordeaux organizes a harbor festival, with many Tall Ships visiting.

Brest is a major French port on the Atlantic coast, historically of strategic importance. Much of the town was destroyed during World War II, but some historic landmarks remain. Today Brest is an important navy port, so expect to see war ships berthed in the harbor. Every four years, Brest hosts the international festival of the sea, boats and sailors, with many Tall Ships attending. South of Brest you will find national park d’Armorique, a tranquil reserve where you can escape from the city.
