Oosterschelde:
A Coruña (ES) - La Rochelle (FR)

26 August - 05 September 2026

Join the Oosterschelde in the Spanish town of A Coruña for a sailing voyage along the Iberian and French coasts, to La Rochelle. Sail past the Tower of Hercules, the only fully intact (and still operational) Roman lighthouse in the world, and leave the mainland behind. The Galician coastline, with its high cliffs and deep bays, is stunning. On board, you will take part in the watch system, helping to hoist and trim the sails, take the helm, and assist with navigation. There will be enough time to try to make a stop in a beautiful bay or in a harbour town such as Bilbao, Santander, or San Sebastián. Then, after several days at sea, you’ll approach the French town of La Rochelle, your final destination and celebrate the arrival with a small party on deck. The next morning, on September 5th, you disembark after breakfast.
Open to all Windseekers aged 18+. Younger trainees, accompanied by an adult, at request.

Ports

A Coruña is a port town in the north west of Spain. Here you will find the Tower of Hercules, a lighthouse that has been in operation for 1.800 years! The town itself is an affluent commercial and tourism hub, with plenty of things to see and do. Visit the popular beaches, explore the city centre, or sample some of the many cultural activities. The Aquarium Finisterrae lets you explore the marine life of the region. But if you prefer your fish on a plate, A Coruña’s restaurants can help you out.

La Rochelle is a coastal city on the west coast of France, with three ports offering shelter from the Bay of Biscay. See the three historic towers of the old port as the 16th century protestant corsairs would have, take a day cycling to the ‘Île de Ré’ bridge-connected island to explore the quaint villages. Popular with cruisers and tourists, the seafront is a place to wine and dine, enjoying the region’s top cuisine.
