Vega Gamleby:
Stockholm (SE) - Halmstad (SE)

28 May - 11 June 2015

Become an able hand on deck and discover life at sea, with this Journey on board Vega Gamleby. From Stockholm you’ll set a course along the Swedish coast and across the Baltic Sea. You’ll visit the towns of Västervik and Simrishamn and spend plenty of time on deck, learning the ropes, enrolled in the watch system on board. Set and trim the sails, discuss the finer points of navigation with the crew, and get to know the ship inside and out. Feel the awesome power of the wind and harness her to get Vega Gamleby to your destination. On board you’ll quickly become friends with the other Windseekers while you battle the elements together and work as a team to keep Vega Gamleby on course. Open to all ages, minimum age 15 years.

Ports

Swim, paddle and shop in this city rich with culture and history. Stockholm is located on Sweden's south-central east coast, where the freshwater Lake Mälaren, Sweden's third largest lake, flows into the Baltic Sea. Over 30% of the city area is made up of waterways. Another 30% is made up of parks and green spaces. Stockholm has become a modern, technologically advanced, and ethnically diverse city. Have fun while exploring this 'Venice of the North', on the water and the shores.

Halmstad is situated on the Swedish west coast, along the Nissan River. The city is famous for its fortress, built by the Danish King Christian IV at the end of the 16th century. A walk around town will reveal much of the city’s rich history and culture, and the cobbled streets in the city centre are dotted with cafes and pubs. Outdoors there’s plenty to do as well, with the nearby Mollegard Nature Reserve well worth a visit. Halmstad offers plenty to soothe your adventure jitters.
