Isafjodur (IS) - Reykjavik (IS)

05 August - 18 August 2016

Icelandvoyage – Return to the wild west! After cruising the Hornstrandir area there might still be time to visit Adey Island. Having had a close look at Kaldalon glacial lagoon at the foot of Drangajokull glacier we make our way out of Isafjardjup. Rounding the first head lands we will get the real feel of the Denmark Strait and its awesome power. Dyrafjordur offers one of the more attractive settlements of the West Fjord area, Thingeyri. Thingeyri is also one of the oldest villages and was mentioned in the Gisla Saga. From here we can do short horseback trips or mountain bike trips into the surrounding outdoors. At the end of it lies Reykjavik, the world’s most northerly capital. Open to all ages, minimum age 15 years.

Ports

Reykjavík is the capital of Iceland. As you approach from the sea, you’ll sea a modern city skyline with snowy volcanic mountains in the background. Reykjavík is quite cosmopolitan, with plenty of culture and entertainment. Go for a night on the town, or find a tour that takes you to see the glaciers, geysers, and volcanoes for which Iceland is famous. Reykjavík’s climate is less cold than you’d expect. At Nauthólsvík you’ll even find a geothermically heated beach!
