Oosterschelde:
Saint Martin (FR) - Cuba (CU)

12 April - 27 April 2017

Saint Martin-Cuba, Caribbean Sailing Experience. When you think of the Caribbean you imagine sun, sea and idyllic islands. And it is very suitable for sailing. On this voyage you have quite some miles to cover. Instead of a lot of short legs and stops, you will have a few longer legs with a few days and nights at sea, and after a bit more time to explore the places you visit. A voyage for the lover of sailing, but with exceptional destinations to make this an even more “must do”. Open for all ages, miniumum age 15 years.

Ports

Saint Martin is a Caribbean island, divided into a Dutch part and a French part. Its warm climate will help you adjust to the pace of life on the island, but if you want to do more than sip piña coladas, you’ll find plenty to do. Visit the old fort St. Louis, overlooking Marigot bay, the French Quarter (Orleans), and Paradise Peak. Or stand at Princess Juliana Airport where you can nearly touch the planes as they fly over you. Discover the beautiful beaches of Simpson Bay and swim in the ocean.

Santiago is a big and festive city in Cuba and its most important fishing port. Cuban music is deeply rooted in Santiago and is the result of the fusion of African drumming and Spanish guitar. Stroll through the streets of the historical center and savoring the fresh breeze, until you arrive at the famous building La Casa de la Trova. Visit the Revolution Plaza with its monumental statues and don’t forget the Diego Velazquez Museum.
