Anne-Margaretha:
Akureyri (IS) - Spaarndam (NL)

11 September - 01 October 2019

* Places at request * Homeward Bound. Bring Anne-Margaretha home for the winter after the busy summer exploring the North. You will spend close to three weeks on board, sailing from Iceland towards Great Britain, and then on to the Netherlands. Depending on the winds, you can expect to visit the Faroe Islands, and perhaps the Orkneys as well. Finally you will disembark in Spaarndam, near Haarlem (close to Amsterdam and Schiphol airport). This is a great trip for birdwatchers, sailors and hikers. You will sail approx. 1,400 miles but be aware that there might be some rough weather sailing along the way. Are you prepared for the challenge? Open for all windseekers, minimum age 15 years.

Ports

Akureyri is a small city in northern Iceland. It is an important port and fishing centre. The Norse Viking Helgi Magri (the slim) Eyvindarson originally settled the area in the 9th century. The city is surrounded by mountains, the highest being Kista (1447 m) and another peak of 1538 m at the head of Glerádalur. Go hiking for a day over the mountains or along the water. Enjoy the quiteness here and the great views with snowy hilltops. Nature is beautiful here and offers great photo material.
