Harlingen (NL) - Weymouth (GB)

05 August - 11 August 2018

Start your voyage with fanfare during the Parade of Sail in Harlingen! You will leave the town with dozens of other vessels, among thousands of spectators on land. This is a very uniqe and memorable experience. Soon you’ll be setting course for southern England. Sailing in the English Channel you will learn about the right of way, setting and trimming the sails, steering, tying knots and more! You will also take part in Atyla’s coaching sessions. The trip will end in Weymouth, on the iconic Jurassic Coast of South England. This short but affordable trip is perfect for everyone who only has a little bit of time – or for those who want to try out Sail Training without committing to a full ocean crossing! Open for all Windseekers, minimum age 15 years.

Ports

Harlingen is a historic trade and fishing port in Friesland, the Netherlands, with roots going back over a thousand years. Its charming old town features well-preserved streets and buildings, perfect for exploring on foot. Despite its small size, Harlingen has a lively atmosphere and was a proud port of call for the Tall Ships Races in 2022. With its gezellig pubs and welcoming vibe, Harlingen is an ideal stopover for any traveler.

Weymouth is a state-of-the-art centre for water sports, and played host to the sailing regattas of the 2012 Olympic games. The town is a popular seaside spot with a nice beach, even though some of it is rather kitschy. Weymouth has just about the sunniest climate of the United Kingdom, further contributing to the town’s holiday feel. Weymouth is great for windsurfing, kitesurfing, diving and sailing. If you want to stretch your legs, the surrounding countryside offers many options for a hike.
