Bark Europa:
Aalborg (DK) - Harlingen (NL)

05 August - 14 August 2015

Aalborg is one of the host ports of the Tall Ship Races. From 1 – 4 August the port will be crowded with young trainees who will join one of the Tall Ships. If you like a buzzing port we recommend you to be in Aalborg a few days before embarkation. Your voyage starts after the festival in a more tranquil atmosphere. After embarkation you have some time to get yourself familiar with the ship and your fellow travellers and enjoy your first dinner on board. The following morning we depart from Aalborg. The wind and weather conditions will determine our exact route. We will find some nice places to anchor and some nice islands or towns worth a visit along the Danish and German coast. The route will take us through the Kielerkanal to the North Sea back to the Netherlands. An excellent voyage for your first time on board or for anyone with a love of sailing and nature. Open for all ages, minimum age 15 years.

Ports

The final leg of the Tall Ships Races 2015 will finish in the grand port of Aalborg. Aalborg has had a love affair with The Tall Ships Races since 1999, when the city hosted the event for the first time. Aalborg is situated at the Liim Fiord where it was founded by Vikings over 1000 years ago. Today Aalborg is a modern city with visible historic roots. Its theatres, symphony orchestra, performance venues, and museums, make Aalborg a great place to wind down after an exhilarating Sail adventure.

Harlingen is a trade and fishing port in Friesland, the Netherlands. The town itself is over a thousand years old, and you’ll find several historic streets in the old city centre. Its small size makes it easy to explore the town on foot. In 2014 Harlingen was a port of call for the Tall Ships Races. The town operates ferry lines to the Frisian Islands, a unique nature reserve with populations of seals, birds, and other wildlife. With its ‘gezellige’ pubs the town is a great place for a stopover.
