Bark Europa:
Ascension Island (GB) - Boston (US)

06 May - 17 June 2017

Ocean sailing: sailtraining, ocean research, honoring king Neptune and a festive sail in Boston. Open for all Windseekers, minimum age 15 years.

Boston, first incorporated as a town in 1630, and as a city in 1822, is one of America’s oldest cities, with a rich economic and social history. What began as a homesteading community eventually evolved into a center for social and political change. Boston has since become the economic and cultural hub of New England.
As the region’s hub, Boston is home to over 617,000 residents, many institutions of higher education, some of the world’s finest inpatient hospitals, and numerous cultural and professional sports organizations. Boston-based jobs, primarily within the finance, health care, educational, and service areas, numbered nearly 660,000 in 2002. Millions of people visit Boston to take in its historic neighborhoods, attend cultural or sporting events, and conduct business.

Ports

Ascension Island is an isolated volcanic island in the equatorial waters of the South Atlantic Ocean, roughly midway between the horn of South America and Africa. The sparsely inhabited island is one of the most remote places in the world. Discover the unique wildlife, including seabirds and marine turtles, go snorkelling in the beautiful ocean or take a hike around the island. Because of its geographical isolation you will be one of very few tourists to ever visit the island.

Boston is the capital of the Massachusetts state, well-known for its excellent universities: Harvard and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. But there is more to Boston than education! Visit the Fenway Park sports complex or one of the many museums in town. The beautiful waterfront invites for a stroll and, once you're there, don't miss visiting the Tea Party Ship replica.
