Cape Town (ZA) - St Helena (GB) - Ascension Island (GB)

08 May - 31 May 2016

Get ready for the ultimate Ocean Sailing Voyage. Cape town – Ascension Island with a visit to the beautiful island of St Helena. Cross the equator and sail thousands of miles on the open ocean. Visit the World’s remotest populated archipelago, and learn all there is to learn about life at sea on board the Bark Europa. You and your fellow shipmates will embark on a journey of discovery, making new friends and becoming an able sailor. Learn to set and trim the sails, navigation, steering, maintenance, and help keep the ship clean. Do odd jobs on deck and below, and spend time with your favorite book. At night you and your watch group have the deck to yourself. Braving the elements, leisure, discovery, and cameradery… this is what a journey is all about! Open to all ages, minimum age 15 years.

Ports

Cape Town, close to Cape of Good Hope, is a wonderful place where African and European cultures mix and match in interesting ways. The city offers lots of entertainment and fine cuisine, and there is much to see! Visit the Table Mountain, saunter along the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, check out Robben Island where Nelson Mandela used to be imprisoned, and of course no Windseeker's visit is complete without a trip to Cape Point. If you have time, a drive along the coast is highly recommended!

Ascension Island is an isolated volcanic island in the equatorial waters of the South Atlantic Ocean, roughly midway between the horn of South America and Africa. Historically, it has played a role as an important safe haven and coaling station to mariners and for commercial airliners during the days of international air travel by flying boats and during World War II was a naval and air station. The sparsely inhabited island is one of the most remote places in the world.
