It's situated by the Strait of Gibraltar which separates Europe from Africa, and marks the entrance to the Mediterranean Sea from the Atlantic. Because of its strategic location, Gibraltar's history is long and interesting. The Rock on Gibraltar is famously home to a group of macaques and a Moorish Castle dating back to the 8th century.
