Morgenster:
Dakar (SN) - Sal (CV)

28 October - 10 November 2018

Cruising from Senegal to Cape Verde. Tired of the autumn weather and fast-approaching holiday season? Why not take a tropical sailing break! Join the Morgenster in Dakar, the capital of Senegal in western Africa. Meet the crew and your fellow trainees before embarking on an Atlantic adventure. Set the course for west and look for those rarely-visited islands to appear on the horizon. Feel the rolling on the ship under your feet and enjoy the expanse of the blue ocean and sky. Perhaps a pod of dolphins will join you for a while, or maybe a sea bird will come over to say hello. Delight in your digital detox and come back home with a new energy and lots of great memories! Open for all Windseekers, minimum age 15 years.

Ports

Dakar is the capital city of Senegal. The city has over 1 million inhabitants and its history dates back to the 15th century. If you want an educational experience visit the Maison des Esclaves. The African Renaissance Monument stands 52m tall and will give you a great view of the city while in the nearby lighthouse you can see the 150 year old equipment, still in use. Dakar has been listed by Lonely Planet as one of the top 10 cities to visit in 2019 - so what are you waiting for?

Sal is one of the three sandy eastern islands of the Cape Verde archipelago, together with Boa Vista and Maio. The island is a dream destination for windsurfing enthusiasts, due to its sandy beaches and persistent winds. Tourism is on the rise in Cape Verde, but outside of the beach resort of Santa Maria the island retains its relaxed feel. Explore the quiet streets with their brightly colored houses, the blue eye cave, and the saline flats. The sun shines 350 days a year, so bring sunscreen!
