Morgenster:
Den Helder (NL) - Palmeira (CV)

03 November - 02 December 2024

Find the Morgenster berthed in Den Helder, and step on board for a high seas adventure! Sail across the North Sea, through Dover Strait, towards the English Channel. Make a stop along the way, before setting out to cross the Bay of Biscay and continue on the Portuguese city of Setúbal, an hour’s drive from Lisbon. Take course for the open ocean, and sail to Tenerife via Madeira, enjoying the raising temperatures as you make your way south. The last leg of this voyage will bring you from the Canary Islands to Cape Verde, pushed by the trade winds. Enjoy the beautiful weather, and the ocean empty of people, but filled with wildlife! Drop the anchor near Palmeira, and spend the last night on board celebrating the successful voyage with your new friends. As the Ship sails on, consider extending your own stay by booking accommodation on the island of Sal and visiting Cape Verde for a few days.
This voyage is recommended for experienced and fit sailors, who are ready for a true adventure. You may experience bad weather, especially in the beginning, and long crossings, without land in sight for days.
Open to all Windseekers aged 18-73 years. Younger trainees, accompanied by an adult, at request. This booking is covered by VZR Garant (instead of Windseeker’s usual STO Garant).

Ports

Den Helder is a beautiful town in the Netherlands, situated at the very tip of the North Holland province, regularly hosting the Tall Ships events. Discover the town’s sea connections by visiting the Marinemuseum and Nationaal Reddingmuseum Dorus Rijkers. Take a break and go for a walk in the botanical gardens Oranjerie De Groene Parel Den Helder or admire sea life in the Fort Kijkduin Museum and Aquarium.

Palmeira is the third-largest town in Cape Verde, situated on the island of Sal, yet it still retains that cosy small village atmosphere. When you land in Palmeira you will have just completed a crossing over the Atlantic waters. Whilst resting in Palmeira, visit some bars and restaurants to try local specialties, or explore further to desert Oases, caves and beaches.
