Rotterdam is the largest port of Europe, and a modern, bustling town. Much of the historic city centre was destroyed during World War II, but extensive rebuilding resulted in a modern, multicultural city with many architectural highlights. Rotterdam has excellent cultural facilities and a diverse nightlife; during the summer the city hosts a large number of events. Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands, and a popular tourist destination. One of the largest Carnival festivals is hosted here, and for tourists there is a lot to see and do. But the island is large enough to escape mass tourism, so let its natural beauty seduce you to a hike or a drive around the island.
