Tecla:
Azores (PT) - Ullapool (GB)

28 May - 17 June 2020

Sailing the Atlantic! Join the Tecla in the remote archipelago of the Azores, a famous stop for ships crossing the ocean. Meet the crew and set course for the adventure! Sail over 1800 nautical miles in 3 weeks, getting your sea legs and enjoying life out on the open ocean. Take a break from the phone and internet, contemplate the vast ocean, look out for whales who love to hang out on this route and observe the stars without light pollution. Steer the ship, pull the lines, navigate – and afterwards relax on deck with your new friends. Depending on the weather and winds, you might visit some other places before making your way to the charming Scottish town of Ullapool. Open for all Windseekers, minimum age 15 years.

Ports

The Azores are a group of 9 islands in the Atlantic Ocean, west of the Iberian Peninsula, and an autonomous region of Portugal. Sailors and trainees can explore several ports, and many do as part of an Atlantic crossing - but the most famous is Horta, which has a large port and marina. For longer visits, tourists can venture up the numerous volcanic peaks, or try one of many outdoor activities such a whale watching or mountain biking.

Ullapool, despite its small size is the largest settlement for many miles around and a major tourist destination of Scotland. The village was founded in 1788 as a herring port by the British Fisheries Society. A few Cordyline australis or New Zealand cabbage trees are grown in the town and are often mistaken for palms. The harbour is still the edge of the village, used as a fishing port, yachting haven, and ferry port. Enjoy the beautiful surroundings here.
