Cape Town (ZA) - Azores (PT)

03 April - 26 May 2020

At home on the Atlantic. This epic journey will take you from South Africa to the remote archipelago of the Azores. This means that you will sail on the South Atlantic and then cross the Equator to the North Atlantic, meeting Neptune along the way! If the winds permit, you might visit St Helena and the Ascension Island on the way. But most of all, this voyage is about sailing – over 50 days of it! Trim the sails, steer the Ship, navigate the ocean and look out for dolphins, sea birds and maybe even whales…? Enjoy calm days, free from your mobile phone, and starry nights without the light pollution. Have an adventure of a lifetime, get your sea legs and meet like-minded travellers. Open for all Windseekers, minimum age 15 years.

Ports

Cape Town, close to Cape of Good Hope, is a wonderful place where African and European cultures mix and match in interesting ways. The city offers lots of entertainment and fine cuisine, and there is much to see! Visit the Table Mountain, saunter along the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, check out Robben Island where Nelson Mandela used to be imprisoned, and of course no Windseeker's visit is complete without a trip to Cape Point. If you have time, a drive along the coast is highly recommended!

The Azores are a group of 9 islands in the Atlantic Ocean, west of the Iberian Peninsula, and an autonomous region of Portugal. Sailors and trainees can explore several ports, and many do as part of an Atlantic crossing - but the most famous is Horta, which has a large port and marina. For longer visits, tourists can venture up the numerous volcanic peaks, or try one of many outdoor activities such a whale watching or mountain biking.
