Morgenster:
IJmuiden (NL) - Aalborg (DK)

29 June - 05 July 2019

Delivery to the Tall Ships Races. Board Morgenster in her homeport: a charming maritime city of Den Helder, about an hour north of Amsterdam. Leave the port and make your way out the the North Sea. Sail along the Frisian Islands and the west coast of Denmark, leaving the Netherlands and Germany behind. Reach Aalborg in the north od Denmark and enjoy the sight of dozens of large and small sailing vessels gathering for the beginning of the Tall Ships Races. Take part in the crew activities in harbour: join the Crew Parade, Crew Party, admire the fireworks and visit other Ships, exchanging your sea stories with trainees from all over the world. Open to all Windseekers aged 15 and older.

Ports

IJmuiden, on the west coast of the Netherlands, is the water gateway to Amsterdam. Cruise ships, cargo vessels and pleasure yachts pass through its busy locks every day while the IJmuiden marina provides an excellent shelter from the North Sea storms. IJmuiden offers a wide, sandy beach that is popular with windsurfers and kitesurfers. Behind the dunes you’ll find a small nature reserve, perfect for a hike or a run. IJmuiden’s restaurants serve fresh fish, straight from the local market.

The Tall Ships Races 2019 will be visiting the grand port of Aalborg. Aalborg has had a love affair with The Tall Ships Races since 1999, when the city hosted the event for the first time. Aalborg is situated at the Liim Fiord where it was founded by Vikings over 1000 years ago. Today Aalborg is a modern city with visible historic roots. Its theatres, symphony orchestra, performance venues, and museums, make Aalborg a great place to wind down after an exhilarating Sail adventure.
