Oosterschelde:
Bremerhaven (DE) - Kiel (DE)

16 August - 05 September 2021

Summer Wanderer: the second edition. Step on board the Oosterschelde for a 20-day, COVID-proof journey. Make your own bubble with trainees and crew and enjoy carefree sailing. There will be everything you need on board to make sure you do not have to go into a harbour for the duration of the trip iif COVID doesn’t allow (hopefully that will not be the case, though!) The route is flexible and depends on the weather and other conditons. Nothing is set in stone, except the fact that you will arrive safely in Kiel after three weeks of sailing. This journey is subject to regular booking conditions.

Ports

Bremerhaven is one of the most important German ports, playing a crucial role in Germany’s trade. The town was founded in 1827, but settlements in the vicinity were settled as early as the 12th century. The main attractions for tourists are found at the Havenwelten and include the German Emigration Center and the German Maritime Museum, featuring the Hansekogge, a vintage cog dating from 1380, excavated in Bremen in 1962, and the historical harbour with a number of museum ships.

Kiel is a German port town on the Baltic coast, widely known for its yearly ‘Kiel week’ – the biggest yearly regatta in the world! Many thousands of boats and ships of all kinds and eras take part in the parade. Kiel Week is also a festival, Volksfest and fair as well as a maritime event. But Kiel offers more: a slew of museums (zoological, geological, historical, fine art, industrial, and military museums), a city centre with relaxed atmosphere, and the water and shores of the Kieler Fjord.

STO Garant

This Journey is covered by the STO Garant guarantee. You can find the conditions for this guarantee scheme on STO Garant’s website (www.sto-garant.nl/en/downloads).

This process is automatic and you do not need to do anything else. After receiving your booking, Windseeker will send you detailed information on how and when to pay for your journey – together with all the other important details.

What does it mean?

In short: you do not pay the booking amount to Windseeker but instead into an escrow account. This trust account holds your payment in reserve until your journey’s end. The booking amount is then released to Windseeker on the day after your trip ends. If Windseeker or the Ship should become financially insolvent before the end of your trip, STO Garant will implement the guarantee. The Guarantee Scheme details how you can make a claim under the guarantee in such cases. You can read more about this here.
