Morgenster:
Palmeira (CV) - Horta, Azores (PT)

01 March - 15 March 2025

From Cape Verde to Azores. Find the Morgenster in the bay of Palmeira, and reach the ship by dinghy to start your adventure! Leave the tropical sun and warm weather behind and set course for the open ocean. Make your way towards the Azores: with the changing winds, there will be plenty to do on deck! Set the sails, reef, unreeve, and adjust the course to ensure the best possible sailing for the Morgenster. Closer to the Azores, there is a good chance of seeing whales, as well as dolphins, sunfish, and plenty of sea birds. Arrive in Horta on the island of Faial, and spend the last evening on board before disembarking the next morning. We recommend that you book an accommodation in the Azores to extend your stay before flying back home.
This voyage is recommended for experienced and fit sailors.
Open to all Windseekers aged 18-73 years. Younger trainees, accompanied by an adult, at request. This booking is covered by VZR Garant (instead of Windseeker’s usual STO Garant).

Ports

Palmeira is the third-largest town in Cape Verde, situated on the island of Sal, yet it still retains that cosy small village atmosphere. When you land in Palmeira you will have just completed a crossing over the Atlantic waters. Whilst resting in Palmeira, visit some bars and restaurants to try local specialties, or explore further to desert Oases, caves and beaches.

Horta is situated in the western part of the Archipelago of the Azores on the island of Faial. The marina is a primary stop for yachts crossing the Atlantic. Its walls and walkways are covered in paintings created by the crews of visiting ships. Peter’s Cafe Sport, located across from the marina, houses the island’s scrimshaw museum. A collection of artefacts carved from whale tooth and jawbone. This café is a point of reference for trans-Atlantic yachtsmen and sailors.
