Oosterschelde:
Portsmouth (US) - Lunenburg (CA)

27 July - 01 August 2026

Step on bboard the Oosterschelde for an adventurous sailing voyage from Portsmouth in the United States to Lunenburg in Nova Scotia. Sail through the mouth of the Piscataqua River to reach the Atlantic Ocean and leave America behind. Once at sea, you’ll hoist the sails and set course for Canada. Out on the open ocean, the rhythm of life on board quickly becomes familiar: sailing, eating, sleeping, navigating, standing watch, and good conversations on the aft deck. The first few days of the journey will be in open waters, with little shipping traffic in this area, and a good chance to encounter seabirds and dolphins. The rugged and green coast of Nova Scotia will welcome you as you sail past Cross Island into Mahone Bay, heading for Lunenburg, your final destination. Celebrate your arrival with a pleasant evening on deck, and the next morning, on August 1st, say farewell to the Oosterschelde and her crew.
Open to all Windseekers aged 18+. Younger trainees, accompanied by an adult, at request.

Ports

Portsmouth is a small port city and popular tourist destination in New Hampshire, USA. Walk the Portsmouth Harbor Trail, a scenic route which includes some historic landmarks, then stop at the farmer’s market for a snack – a perfect day on shore before or after a sailing journey!

Lunenburg is a Canadian port town in Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia. Historically the town was involved in several wars, including the American Revolution. Today the town is a fishery port and has several small shipyards that have managed to preserve the skills of the sailing era. Did you know that the replica of the ‘Bounty’ was built here? Visit the historic city centre on foot or by horse and carriage, and enjoy a leisurely hike in the grassy hills of the surrounding countryside.
