Oosterschelde:
Rotterdam (NL) - Tenerife (ES)

12 December 2026 - 03 January 2027

Step on board the Oosterschelde in Rotterdam for a great Atlantic adventure! Take course via the North Sea towards the English Channel while you get into the rhythm of life at sea: adjusting sails, standing watch, and gradually becoming accustomed to the ship’s motion. Reach the Bay of Biscay, where the sea changes character. This area is known for its dynamic conditions, with strong winds and accompanying seas at times. Take turns at the helm and respond to the elements. Between the squalls, there will be calm moments, with clear skies and an endless horizon. Along the Portuguese coast the days will start to take on a different pace, with more time spent out on deck. Near Cape São Vicente, the route turns southwest, towards the open ocean. The wind becomes steadier and sailing feels almost effortless. Gradually, the Canary Islands announce themselves, first in the light and only later in the outline of Tenerife rising from the sea – your final destination on this amazing journey.
Open to all Windseekers aged 18+. Younger trainees, accompanied by an adult, at request.

Ports

Rotterdam is the largest port of Europe, and a modern, bustling town. Much of the historic city centre was destroyed during World War II, but extensive rebuilding resulted in a modern, multicultural city with many architectural highlights. Rotterdam has excellent cultural facilities and a diverse nightlife; during the summer the city hosts a large number of events. Discover the city by bicycle or on foot – or take a train to the nearby Hague.

Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands, and a popular tourist destination. One of the largest Carnival festivals is hosted here, and for tourists there is a lot to see and do. But the island is large enough to escape mass tourism, so let its natural beauty seduce you to a hike or a drive around the island. You’ll find mountains to climb, cliffs overlooking bays, and ravines. The ‘Island of eternal spring’ is just what you need if you arrive fresh from your Journey!
