Morgenster:
Belém (BR) - Horta, Azores (PT) - Den Helder (NL)

23 November - 28 December 2025

Cross the Atlantic on tall ship Morgenster, sailing from Brazil to the Netherlands. Embark on an epic 5-week journey starting in Belém, where Morgenster will be docked for the Climate Conference. From there, set a course for a non-stop crossing to the Azores, sailing along Brazil’s coast and enjoying warm weather and exotic wildlife. As you head north, it’s time to catch the westerlies and let them fill Morgenster’s square sails. Stop over in the Azores before continuing your adventure to Europe.
Sailing the North Atlantic in winter isn’t for the faint of heart—this voyage is adventurous and physically demanding. You’ll need to be fit and in good health, as mid-ocean medical evacuation is extremely limited.
Open to all Windseekers aged 15+.
IMPORTANT: Arrival day in Den Helder is approximate. With ocean crossings and a shifting climate, the ETA may change – Mother Nature has the final say!

Ports

Belém is the capital and largest city of the state of Pará in the north of Brazil, famous for hosting the COP30 Climate Conference in 2025. The city lies on the Pará river, which connects it to the Atlantic Ocean (as well as the Amazon River). Take a walk and grab a bite to eat in Estacao das Docas along the river, admire the landmark Basílica de Nossa Senhora de Nazare, visit the gardens of Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi, or discover the Amazonian ecosystems in Jardim Botanico da Amazonia.

Horta is situated in the western part of the Archipelago of the Azores on the island of Faial. The marina is a primary stop for yachts crossing the Atlantic. Its walls and walkways are covered in paintings created by the crews of visiting ships. Peter’s Cafe Sport, located across from the marina, houses the island’s scrimshaw museum. A collection of artefacts carved from whale tooth and jawbone. This café is a point of reference for trans-Atlantic yachtsmen and sailors.

Den Helder is a beautiful town in the Netherlands, situated at the very tip of the North Holland province, regularly hosting the Tall Ships events. Discover the town’s sea connections by visiting the Marinemuseum and Nationaal Reddingmuseum Dorus Rijkers. Take a break and go for a walk in the botanical gardens Oranjerie De Groene Parel Den Helder or admire sea life in the Fort Kijkduin Museum and Aquarium.

STO Garant

This Journey is covered by the STO Garant guarantee. You can find the conditions for this guarantee scheme on STO Garant’s website (www.sto-garant.nl/en/downloads).

This process is automatic and you do not need to do anything else. After receiving your booking, Windseeker will send you detailed information on how and when to pay for your journey – together with all the other important details.

What does it mean?

In short: you do not pay the booking amount to Windseeker but instead into an escrow account. This trust account holds your payment in reserve until your journey’s end. The booking amount is then released to Windseeker on the day after your trip ends. If Windseeker or the Ship should become financially insolvent before the end of your trip, STO Garant will implement the guarantee. The Guarantee Scheme details how you can make a claim under the guarantee in such cases. You can read more about this here.
