*Only places left for trainees from France and Portugal* Sail on Tall Ship Morgenster and join the EU Exchange “Erasmus+” of 14 days. This is an exchange for trainees from the following European countries: Spain, Portugal, Norway, Netherlands and France. Besides receiving sail training, you also join an intercultural program during the Tall Ships Races 2016. There is a nice extra program in Cadiz and A Coruña. Your Journey starts at the 29th with one night in a youth hostel in Cadiz and the next day you will embark the Morgenster for the rest of the voyage. You will join a short race from Cadiz to a point close Cabo Sao Vincente and afterwards cruise with the other vessels to A Coruña . Hopefully there is also time and good weather for a stop to swim or a BBQ. Make new international friends and learn how to handle the Ship. Work together with your fellow Windseekers to set your course from South to North at the Atlantic Ocean. It promises to be a journey of epic discovery! For Windseekers age 15-28. Request for more information: info@windseeker.org

Programme Outline

Experience the famous Tall Ship Races (TSR). Meet people from all over the world. Learn how to sail a majestic Tall Ship. No sailing experience needed! Mingle with other cultures during the European Union international youth exchange organised on board. Party during the festivals in the host ports. The professional crew teaches you everything you want to know about sailing and the Tall Ship Morgenster.

Step on board of the Morgenster on the 30th of July in Cadiz. Unpack your bags and start your discovery of the Ship immediately with your fellow Windseekers. Smell the salt in the air, hear the seagulls scream in the wind and start setting sails! There will be fellow Windseekers from all over Europe joining you on this Journey. From Spain, Portugal, Netherlands, France and Norway. By the time you arrive in A Coruña you’ll be one big family!

You'll participate in the watch rotation, once a day and once a night. Become a skilled sailor by learning from the professional crew. Set and trim the sails, steer the ship, help the cook and do odd jobs on deck and below. At the end of your European Union International Youth Exchange, you and your team are a comfortable and skilled sailing team.

This is not a race, so you'll have time to relax as well. Gaze at the horizon, curl up with a good book, or spend time in the company of your fellow shipmates. In A Coruña an epic crew party will be waiting for you, where you will meet Windseekers from the other Tall Ships. Exchange experiences and enjoy good times. By the time you disembark you'll be a true sailor.

Ports

Cadiz is the oldest city in Spain, with a wealth of historic landmarks. Water is never far away, as the old town is built on a narrow stretch of land jutting out into the Mediterranean Sea. Get lost in the Old town with its many narrow streets and visit one of the many parks that dot the city. Its many cathedrals and plazas are also well worth a visit. Go to La Caleta beach, at La Viña, the old fisherman quarter. Catch a Flamenco concert and feast your taste buds with the fresh sea foods.

A Coruña is a port town in the north west of Spain. Here you will find the Tower of Hercules, a lighthouse that has been in operation for 1800 years! The town itself is an affluent commercial and tourism hub, with plenty of things to see and do. Visit the popular beaches, explore the city centre, or sample some of the many cultural activities. The Aquarium Finisterrae lets you explore the marine life of the region. But if you prefer your fish on a plate, a Coruña’s restaurants can help you out.

Sponsorship and costs

Your Life on Board covers 14 days, starting on the 30th of July and ending on the 13th of August 2016. The normal price for this Journey is € 1470. If you're from one of the partnering EU countries (Spain, Portugal, Netherlands, France or Malta) and 15 - 28 years of age, you are eligible for the reduced price of € 975. Price excludes drinks at the bar and transportation to and from the Ship. After the Journey's conclusion you may be eligible for a partial refund of transfer costs.

This special project of 14 days is organized by Windseeker in coordination with partners in 5 different countries. The European Union provides partial funding through the "Erasmus+" programme.
