Bark Europa:
Brest (FR) - Scheveningen (NL)

20 July - 25 July 2016

Sailingvoyage from France to Brest. During your time at sea you’ll learn all about life on board. You’ll help set and trim the sails, do navigation and lookout duty, steer the ship and do odd jobs both on deck and below. But there’s also plenty of time for stargazing and staring at the horizon. Make new, lasting friendships with your fellow Windseekers, and exchange stories with the crew over a fine meal from the galley. Experience the magic of the night watch, when you are alone with the stars and the waves. It will be a Journey you will never forget. Open to all ages, minimum age 15 years.

Ports

Brest is a major French port on the Atlantic coast, historically of strategic importance. Much of the town was destroyed during World War II, but some historic landmarks remain. Today Brest is an important navy port, so expect to see war ships berthed in the harbor. Every four years, Brest hosts the international festival of the sea, boats and sailors, with many Tall Ships attending. South of Brest you will find national park d’Armorique, a tranquil reserve where you can escape from the city.

Scheveningen is a popular sea resort in the Netherlands, a stone’s throw away from the seat of government in The Hague. It has a busy marina and a lively (somewhat kitschy) promenade – great for an afternoon of sightseeing. You’ll also find plenty to do nearby. Go for a walk in the dune landscape or take a tour around the Palace of Peace. Visit Madurodam to see the Netherlands rebuilt in miniature, check out the city centre of The Hague, or explore the beach and perhaps even go kitesurfing.
