Morgenster:
Lisbon (PT) - Santa Cruz de Tenerife (ES)

30 November - 08 December 2019

Crossing to the Canary Islands. This journey will take you from continental Europe out on the open ocean and towards the famous Canary Islands, so loved by the sailors due to the great weather and beautiful landscapes. You will board the Tall Ship in Lisbon, get to know the crew and learn safety rules, before setting course for the Atlantic ocean. Enjoy your digital detox, getting into the rythm of sea watches and leaving the land-worries behind. Spend your days steering, navigating, singing shanties and simply hanging out, contemplating the vast ocean and looking for dolphins. You will make about 600 nautical miles during this late fall 8-day journey. Open to all Windseekers aged 15 and over.

Ports

Lisbon has a long and varied history as a major trading hub, much of which is still visible in the old city centre. Discover Alfama, the old quarters with its many old alleys, steps and the Lisbon Cathedral. The famous tram line 28 will get you there – an experience in and of itself. And be sure to check out a fado concert if you want to learn about saudade – loss, yearning and comfort, all rolled into one. Emotions that all seafarers will get to know one way or the other…

Santa Cruz de Tenerife is the shared capital of the Canary Islands, together with Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The central square Plaza de España is a real eye-catcher, situated between the ocean and the old, bustling city centre. Lose yourself in the crowded alleys, find a spot on one of the terraces, or leave town and discover the rugged volcanic landscape. The museum of Nature and Man is worth a visit. Chances are you’ll find pilot whales in the waters around Tenerife, so keep an eye out!
