Thalassa:
Oban (GB) - Troon (GB)

28 August - 04 September 2027

Step on board tall ship Thalassa in Oban, Scotland, and spend a week on board, as you make your way to Troon, visiting distilleries along the way with a whisky expert on board. Depending on weather and sailing conditions, you may visit different distilleries, some dating back to the 17th century, and others entirely modern. You will also make an excursion to Bushmills in Northern Ireland. In the evening workshops, you’ll be able to discuss whisky with the expert on board. Not into whisky? Join the journey and choose to experience the extraordinary scenery of the Scottish islands instead! Walks are available near every berth, perfect for a short trip or a walk of several miles. Some of the towns also have a good range of museums, galleries, shops and local attractions.
One whisky tasting on board is included in the journey price. Tickets to varous distilleries have to be paid for separately. The costs for the different excursions are estimated at approx. € 100, per person in total.
Open to all Windseekers over 18 years of age.

Ports

Oban (meaning ‘little bay’ in Gaelic) is a small harbor town on the west coast of Scotland, famous for its whiskey distillery. The town occupies a beautiful setting in the Firth of Lorn, and is a perfect place to find shelter from the Atlantic. Walking around town is a pleasure, and close by you’ll find mountains, castles, dramatic coastal scenery, and McCaig’s tower that resembles the Colosseum. In the first week of August, the town plays host to West Highland week, a yearly sailing regatta.

Troon, situated on the west coast of Scotland, is famous for its Royal Troon golf course, one of the hosts to the Open Golf Championship. The course is chosen to host this annual event roughly every seven years. The Duke of Portland took the existing natural harbour on the north side of the headland and added docks. Troon has over the past few years become a popular place for kitesurfing. The strong winds coming from the Atlantic and from the north down the Firth of Clyde make it an ideal spot.
