DARWIN200 Global Voyage: Leg 31. Sail on the Atlantic from Ascension Island to Azores. Cross the equator and explore the emerald archipelago, filled with extinct volcanic peaks and craters now covered with lush subtropical jungle and diverse wildlife! Explore remote fishing villages and historic towns, savour local cuisine and spot dolphins and whales in the blue Atlantic waters. IMPORTANT: In order to join this journey you must send a proof of vaccination 48h prior to the embarkation. If the situation gives cause to do so, the crew can ask you to take a Sars-Cov-2 Antigen rapid test when you come on board. All Oosterschelde crew members are vaccinated.
Horta is situated in the western part of the Archipelago of the Azores on the island of Faial. The marina is a primary stop for yachts crossing the Atlantic. Its walls and walkways are covered in paintings created by the crews of visiting ships. Peter's Cafe Sport, located across from the marina, houses the island's scrimshaw museum. A collection of artefacts carved from whale tooth and jawbone. This café is a point of reference for trans-Atlantic yachtsmen and sailors.
